Lupus Foundation Hosts 2nd Annual
Butterfly Gala - June 21st, 2011
St. George’s, Grenada – The Lupus Foundation of
Grenada (LFG) will host its second annual Butterfly Gala –
Celebrate Life on Saturday 9th July, 2011 at the
Taylor Hall, St. George’s University, True Blue Campus.
It is hoped that the Butterfly Gala will raise
the profile of lupus, generate critical funding to help advance the
LFG's mission, and encourage greater public awareness
about the Lupus Foundation of Grenada,
the organization and its cause.
The
Butterfly Gala is supported through donations from the business
community and individuals in Grenada.
The evening will
feature fine dining and
entertainment by local artists as well as a special guest appearance
by award winning pianist Eddie Bullen.
The Lupus
Foundation of Grenada was officially launched in November 2008 and
is now recognized in Grenada as the voice of hope and education in
the ongoing fight against Lupus and other related autoimmune
diseases.
Monthly meetings
are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at the
Alliance Francaise Headquarters, the Villa, St. George’s. The
meetings frequently feature speakers from the medical community who
lead discussions about various aspects of the diseases, including
the latest medical findings, disease management and treatment
options.

About Lupus
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which
the immune system is unbalanced, causing inflammation and tissue
damage to virtually any organ in the body. Lupus can be
unpredictable and potentially fatal, yet no satisfactory treatment
exists. An estimated five million people worldwide have a form of
lupus. Its health effects include heart attacks, strokes, seizures,
miscarriages, and organ failure.
